2027 Subaru Trailseeker: Is the Limited the Sweet Spot in Subaru’s New Electric SUV Lineup? (plus Video) on Everyman Driver

The 2027 Subaru Trailseeker is one of the most important EVs Subaru has introduced because it is designed to feel much more like a traditional Subaru than an electric crossover with a Subaru badge. I recently had an early look at the Trailseeker Limited during the Drive Revolution media event in Vancouver, Washington, and the formula is clear: strong power, standard all-wheel drive, useful ground clearance and enough cargo space for real family and outdoor use.

Every Trailseeker uses a dual-motor electric powertrain producing 375 horsepower with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive standard. That gives this family SUV plenty of performance while keeping the traction-first character Subaru buyers expect. The Trailseeker also offers 8.5 inches of ground clearance, which gives it a meaningful advantage over many pavement-focused EV crossovers.

If the 2027 Subaru Trailseeker is on your shopping list, compare current dealer pricing and local offers at Quotes.EverymanDriver.com before choosing between Premium, Limited and Touring trims. Since every version gets the same basic 375-horsepower AWD powertrain, the real decision comes down to equipment, range and how much you want to spend.

Driving range varies slightly by trim. The Trailseeker lineup can deliver up to about 281 miles of range, while this Limited is rated at approximately 274 miles. That is not a class-leading number, but it should be workable for many buyers, especially those who can charge at home and mainly use the Trailseeker for commuting, family travel and regional road trips.

Charging is much more competitive than what Subaru offered with some earlier EVs. Under ideal conditions, the Trailseeker can go from roughly 10 to 80 percent in about 28 minutes. It also supports NACS charging, giving owners access to compatible Tesla Superchargers, and battery preconditioning helps the system prepare for faster charging when you are heading toward a DC fast charger.

Inside, every Trailseeker gets a large 14-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus dual wireless phone chargers. The Limited adds features such as Harman Kardon premium audio, a 360-degree camera, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a digital key, 20-inch wheels and a 120-volt outlet in the cargo area. Those are the kinds of upgrades that may matter more in everyday use than simply moving to a higher trim for appearance alone.

Passenger and cargo space are also strong points. The flat rear floor helps make the second row easier to use, while the Trailseeker offers about 31.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. Standard raised roof rails add even more versatility for bikes, cargo boxes or outdoor equipment, and Subaru designed them to support more serious recreational use when parked.

The Trailseeker also stays true to the Subaru formula with dual-function X-MODE and Grip Control for conditions such as snow, dirt, deep snow and mud. Towing capacity is rated at up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped, which makes it useful for smaller campers, utility trailers or recreational equipment.

The Limited may be the most interesting trim from a value perspective. The Premium starts around $39,995, while the Limited starts at about $43,995 before destination. That roughly $4,000 increase does not buy more power or more AWD capability, but it does add a meaningful amount of comfort, technology and convenience equipment. Buyers who simply want the core Trailseeker experience may be better off with the Premium, while those who plan to keep the vehicle for years may appreciate the Limited upgrades.

If you are cross-shopping, I would also look at the Toyota bZ Woodland, Hyundai IONIQ 5 and other AWD electric crossovers. The Trailseeker’s strongest argument is its combination of 375 horsepower, standard AWD, 8.5 inches of ground clearance, useful cargo space and real towing capability. It is aimed squarely at buyers who want to go electric without giving up the things they already like about Subaru SUVs.

The bottom line is that the 2027 Subaru Trailseeker Limited looks like a strong middle-ground choice for buyers who want more comfort and technology without paying for the highest trim. The Premium saves money and keeps the same powertrain, while Touring models add even more luxury.
