2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid: Is Nissan’s New Hybrid Worth Waiting For? (plus Video) on Everyman Driver

The 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid brings a different approach to the compact SUV shopping list: electric motors drive the wheels, but you still fill up at a gas station. Nissan calls the system e-POWER. For shoppers interested in electric driving without arranging home charging, the concept deserves a closer look.

Before choosing your next SUV, compare local dealer pricing at Quotes.EverymanDriver.com. Compare the full out-the-door price, equipment and availability rather than shopping by monthly payment alone.

Here’s how e-POWER works: a gasoline engine generates electricity, while two electric motors provide propulsion. There is no charging plug, and the engine does not mechanically drive the wheels. This Rogue Hybrid should not be confused with Nissan’s separate Rogue Plug-in Hybrid. Nissan says the system delivers smooth acceleration and immediate motor response—claims worth evaluating on a test drive.

The setup also changes what happens under heavier loads. The engine operates more frequently on highways or when electrical demand rises, while regenerative braking recovers energy as you slow down. Electric motors provide the driving force, but gasoline remains essential, so buyers should evaluate fuel economy for their actual driving mix.

Every 2027 Rogue Hybrid includes dual-motor all-wheel drive. Nissan estimates 41 mpg in city driving, based on internal testing; that figure is not an EPA-rated combined number. A 12.3-inch touchscreen is standard, with a larger 14.3-inch display available on selected configurations. My shopping priorities would still be seat comfort, visibility, easy controls and usable cargo space.

Pricing creates an important reason to consider waiting. Nissan lists the SV at $35,490 before its $1,575 destination charge, putting the starting total at $37,065 before taxes and other charges. However, the SV is scheduled for early 2027. The initial fall 2026 offering is the SR with SR Technology Package at $41,490 before destination, or $43,065 with it. Buying the first available version means a substantially higher starting price.

My advice is to put the Rogue Hybrid on your comparison list, then let a test drive and a written quote decide whether it belongs in your driveway. Pay attention to highway engine noise, brake feel, rear-seat comfort and whether the added equipment justifies the trim price. An interesting powertrain is a reason to investigate, not a reason to skip those checks.
