The 2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT brings back one of the wildest factory pickup trucks ever built, and somehow Ram has made it even more extreme. I recently had an early look at the new TRX during the Drive Revolution media event in Vancouver, Washington, and the headline number is hard to ignore: 777 horsepower from a supercharged V8.
Under the hood is a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 producing 777 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque. Ram says the TRX can hit 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds, which is remarkable for a full-size pickup riding on 35-inch off-road tires. Full-time four-wheel drive is standard, and the TRX offers multiple drive modes including Sport, Snow, Mud/Sand, Rock, Baja, Tow, Auto and Custom.
If the 2027 Ram TRX is on your shopping list, compare dealer pricing and local offers at Quotes.EverymanDriver.com before walking into the showroom. The TRX starts at $99,995 before the $2,795 destination charge, so you are already above $102,000 before adding options, taxes or fees.
The TRX is not simply a Ram 1500 with a huge engine. It gets Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive performance shocks, approximately 11.8 inches of ground clearance and up to 14 inches of rear suspension travel. That hardware is designed for serious high-speed off-road driving, so buyers who never leave pavement should understand that a meaningful part of the purchase price is paying for capability they may rarely use.
Inside, the TRX feels much more like a luxury truck than a stripped-down desert racer. Equipment includes a 14.5-inch Uconnect touchscreen, a digital instrument display, a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, available massage functions and premium interior materials. Hands-Free Active Drive Assist also adds another layer of technology for highway driving.
Because this is still a Ram 1500 Crew Cab, passenger space is generous. The second row has plenty of room for adults, kids and car seats, which means the TRX can realistically serve as a daily family vehicle rather than simply a weekend toy. The obvious downside is fuel consumption, which is not exactly the reason anyone buys a 777-horsepower supercharged truck.
The TRX can also handle real truck duty. Maximum towing capacity is rated at up to 8,100 pounds when properly equipped, which is enough for many boats, campers and recreational trailers. That said, buyers who prioritize maximum towing or payload rather than off-road performance can find much more practical—and far less expensive—versions of the Ram 1500.
One of the most important comparisons is with Ram’s own 1500 RHO. The RHO uses the high-output Hurricane twin-turbo six-cylinder rather than the supercharged HEMI, and it still delivers serious off-road capability for considerably less money. If the sound, character and power of the V8 are not essential to you, the RHO deserves a very close look before spending TRX money.
The other obvious competitor is the Ford F-150 Raptor R, another supercharged V8 off-road pickup aimed at buyers who want extreme factory performance. At this price level, choosing between these trucks is less about basic transportation and more about which combination of engine, suspension, design and personality appeals to you most.

The bottom line is that the 2027 Ram TRX SRT is not trying to be the sensible Ram 1500. It is built for buyers who specifically want a 777-horsepower supercharged V8, serious off-road hardware and a luxury interior in one outrageous package.
