2023 Chevrolet Colorado Videos and Review on Everyman Driver

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado pickup has undergone a significant redesign, adopting a more athletic exterior that aligns its style with the larger Chevrolet Silverado. This transformation extends to the mechanical realm as well, as the Silverado’s potent 2.7-liter turbo engine breathes fresh vigor into the Colorado. Across all five trim levels, the crew cab/short box configuration remains a constant presence. Among the new additions, the Trail Boss debuts as an off-road-focused trim offering excellent value without unnecessary frills. At the zenith of the lineup, the fully energized ZR2 boasts even more power, while the ZR2 Desert Boss package introduces an exclusive underbody camera designed for navigating challenging trails. The revamped 2023 Colorado introduces an entirely new cabin featuring refined materials, turbine-style air vents, and a commanding 11.3-inch touchscreen. Driver-assist technology finally comes standard, encompassing automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, and more.

The third-generation 2023 Chevrolet Colorado arrives as a complete overhaul, effectively addressing the need for change as the preceding model had remained largely unaltered since 2015. Despite its spaciousness, towing prowess, and impressive off-road capabilities, the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado struggled due to subpar cabin plastics and limited driver safety features.

The fresh design of the Colorado exudes a more assertive character that draws inspiration from its larger sibling, the Chevrolet Silverado. This resemblance is more than skin deep as the standard 2.7-liter turbocharged engine is directly transplanted from the Silverado, featuring three distinct power variants. The Colorado’s configurations have been streamlined, now exclusively offered in a crew cab/short bed body style. The lineup embraces three off-road trims, including the novel Trail Boss, along with plans for the special-edition ZR2 Desert Boss package, boasting an exclusive underbody camera. Chevy Safety Assist, once an optional package, is now standard across all models. The interior of the Colorado has undergone a comprehensive modernization, highlighted by the expansive 11.3-inch touchscreen, the largest in its class.

While the midsize Colorado is now equipped with modern aesthetics, a sophisticated cabin, a useful tailgate storage system, and valuable driver safety aids, its true strength remains its prowess both on and off the road. It retains its position as a class leader, capable of towing up to 7,700 pounds. Chevy’s intuitive how-to apps simplify trailer hitching, backing up, and navigating road obstacles. The ZR2 variant, renowned for its off-road capabilities, is poised to maintain its status as a top performer in its segment.

Notable competitors, including the Ford Ranger, Jeep Gladiator, and Toyota Tacoma, have historically outsold the Colorado, offering compelling features and value. While a complete evaluation awaits our test drive, the newly redesigned 2023 Chevy Colorado appears poised to shine at the forefront. The Chevrolet Colorado, renowned for its exceptional midsize truck capabilities, has received a transformative redesign for 2023. This update not only elevates its visual appeal but also introduces innovative features and makes driver aids standard, positioning it as a potential class leader in the competitive midsize truck segment.
