2023 Mercedes Benz EQB Review on Everyman Driver

The Mercedes-Benz EQB is an all-new electric SUV based on the gasoline-powered GLB. Below is a Motormouth couple review of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB compact electric crossover. The Mercedes Benz EQB 350 dual motor makes 288 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. It has a 70.5 kWh battery with 356 km/221 miles of range and goes 0-100 in 6.2 seconds, 0-60 in 6 seconds.

In the US, there are two more Mercedes Benz EQB models, the 250+ which is FWD, it has 188 horsepower and 245 miles of range. The EQB 300 an AWD model has 225 horsepower and 232 miles of range. The Mercedes Benz EQB gives you plenty of flexibility whether you have a small family who needs a 5-passenger vehicle or one that is a little larger and needs a 3rd row. The 3rd row will cost you an extra $1,300 CAD/$1,250 USD but it is small and best for little kids. Mercedes-Benz has carried over the interior from the GLB gas model with dual screens, a 10.25” digital driver display and a 10.25” touchscreen which is also controlled by the centre console trackpad.

The Mercedes Benz EQB looks a lot like the GLB, it’s hard to tell it’s an electric vehicle which may appeal to buyers who want to blend in with their EV. Instead of a grille, the EQB has a black panel and the wheels have blue accents. It comes standard with LED lighting which spans across the entire front panel and a lightbar across the rear. Other standard features include aluminum roof rails, available black and 19” wheels. The Mercedes Benz EQB is missing a few features like ventilated front seats, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, only wired and heated rear seats.

The Mercedes BenzEQB comes with an 9.6 kW on-board charger. With a DC Fast charger with speeds up to 100 kW only you can charge from 10-80% in about 30 minutes. With a Level 2 charger 10-100% in 6.5 hours. Unfortunately, the charging speed is slow, but if you mostly charge at home, you will be fine, it will be more challenging on the road. In Canada, the EQB 350 starts at $75,700 CAD. In the US, the Premium trim is $60,550 USD, Exclusive $61,800 USD and Pinnacle $64,350 USD.

The Mercedes-Benz EQB is an excellent choice for small families who want to go green. It has the range, space, and comfort to make it one of the best small electric SUVs, bolstered by smart technology and the brand cachet of Mercedes ownership.
