2027 Lucid Gravity Grand Touring: Are 828 Horsepower and 450 Miles Worth Nearly $100,000? (plus Video) on Everyman Driver

The 2027 Lucid Gravity Grand Touring is one of those electric SUVs where the numbers almost sound contradictory. I recently had an early look at the Gravity Grand Touring during the Drive Revolution media event in Vancouver, Washington, and Lucid has managed to combine three-row family usability, supercar-level acceleration and some of the longest driving range available in an electric SUV.

The Grand Touring uses dual electric motors and all-wheel drive to produce 828 horsepower, with Lucid estimating zero to 60 mph in about 3.4 seconds. That is extraordinary performance for a vehicle designed to carry as many as seven people, but acceleration is only part of the Gravity story. Lucid also rates the Grand Touring at up to 450 miles of EPA-estimated range.

If the 2027 Lucid Gravity is on your shopping list, compare current dealer pricing and local offers at Quotes.EverymanDriver.com before deciding between the Touring and Grand Touring. The Grand Touring starts at about $98,900 before destination and options, so the roughly $19,000 difference between it and the less expensive Touring deserves a close look.

Range is one of the biggest reasons buyers may justify that extra money. The Gravity Touring offers up to roughly 337 miles of range and 560 horsepower, while the Grand Touring jumps to as much as 450 miles and 828 horsepower. Unlike some trim upgrades where you are mostly paying for additional luxury features, moving to the Grand Touring gives you a major mechanical and range upgrade.

Charging performance is equally impressive. The Gravity Grand Touring uses a 123-kWh battery and can accept more than 400 kW of peak DC fast-charging power under ideal conditions. Lucid says drivers can add roughly 200 miles of range in less than 11 minutes, and the native NACS charging port provides access to compatible Tesla Superchargers along with other public charging networks.

Inside, the Gravity feels more like a futuristic luxury vehicle than a conventional three-row SUV. A large 34-inch curved OLED display dominates the dashboard, while a secondary Pilot Panel handles additional controls. For 2027, the Grand Touring also comes with more standard equipment, including upgraded driver-assistance, comfort and power-related packages that previously could add considerably to the price.

Passenger and cargo space are major parts of the Gravity’s appeal. Buyers can configure it with seating for up to seven adults, while Lucid says there can be as much as 120 cubic feet of usable cargo space in a five-seat configuration. That makes it much more than a performance EV and gives families enough room for luggage, sports equipment, pets or road-trip gear.

The Gravity can also handle real SUV duty. When properly equipped, towing capacity reaches up to 6,000 pounds, giving buyers enough capability for many boats, campers and recreational trailers. Adjustable air suspension and standard all-wheel drive further help the Gravity function as something more than a low-slung luxury EV with extra seats.

At nearly $100,000, the Gravity Grand Touring should also be compared with other premium three-row electric SUVs such as the Rivian R1S and Tesla Model X. What makes the Lucid different is the combination of range, performance and interior packaging. Very few electric SUVs offer more than 800 horsepower, room for a family and up to 450 miles of estimated driving range in the same vehicle.

The bottom line is that the 2027 Lucid Gravity Grand Touring makes the most sense for buyers who want one electric SUV to handle long-distance travel, family duty, cargo, towing and serious performance. The cheaper Touring may already be more than enough for many buyers, but if maximum range is one of your top priorities, the Grand Touring has a much stronger argument than simply being the faster version.
