The 2027 Toyota bZ Woodland Premium takes Toyota’s electric SUV lineup in a more rugged and practical direction. I recently had an early look at the bZ Woodland Premium during the Drive Revolution media event in Vancouver, Washington, and unlike some EVs that focus almost entirely on efficiency and technology, this one adds more ground clearance, standard AWD, useful cargo space and legitimate towing capability.
Power comes from a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 375 horsepower. Toyota estimates zero to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds, so despite the outdoor-oriented mission, the Woodland is also surprisingly quick. A 74.7-kWh battery supplies the power, and AWD with X-MODE and Grip Control is standard.
If the 2027 Toyota bZ Woodland is on your shopping list, compare current dealer pricing and local offers at Quotes.EverymanDriver.com before choosing between the standard Woodland and Premium. The Premium costs only a little more, so the actual price difference at your local dealer could make the upgrade an easy decision.
Range depends partly on the tires you choose. With the standard all-season tires, Toyota estimates up to 281 miles of driving range. Choosing the available all-terrain tires lowers that figure to about 260 miles. That 21-mile difference is worth considering if most of your driving will be on pavement, because the more aggressive tires may not be necessary for every buyer.
The Woodland is more capable than Toyota’s regular road-focused EVs. It offers 8.4 inches of ground clearance, standard roof rails and up to 3,500 pounds of towing capacity when properly equipped. That makes it a realistic option for small campers, utility trailers, boats and buyers who regularly travel on snow-covered roads, gravel or light trails.
Inside, every bZ Woodland gets a 14-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual wireless phone chargers, heated front seats, heated outboard rear seats and a heated steering wheel. There is also a 120-volt, 1,500-watt outlet in the cargo area, which could be especially useful for camping equipment, tools or other outdoor gear.
Cargo space is another strength. With the rear seats folded, the bZ Woodland offers up to about 74.3 cubic feet of room, making it much more useful for families, dogs, bikes, luggage and weekend equipment than its sleek EV shape might suggest. Toyota also stretched the cargo area compared with the standard bZ, giving this version more practical SUV proportions.
The Premium trim is where the value equation gets interesting. The standard Woodland starts at about $45,380, while the Premium starts around $47,480 before destination. For roughly $2,100 more, the Premium adds features such as a nine-speaker JBL audio system, ventilated front seats, driver-seat memory, a digital rearview mirror, radiant leg heaters and a fixed panoramic glass roof.
Charging is handled through a native NACS port, giving owners access to compatible Tesla Superchargers and other public charging networks. Toyota says a DC fast charger can take the battery from roughly 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes under ideal conditions, while the 11-kW onboard charger should make overnight Level 2 home charging straightforward.
If you are cross-shopping, I would also look at the Subaru Trailseeker, Hyundai IONIQ 5 and other AWD electric crossovers. The bZ Woodland’s strongest argument is that it combines 375 horsepower, standard AWD, extra ground clearance, useful cargo space and towing capability in one package. The biggest decision is whether you need the all-terrain tires and whether the Premium equipment is worth the relatively small price increase.

The bottom line is that the 2027 Toyota bZ Woodland Premium makes the most sense for buyers who want an EV that still behaves like a useful SUV. The standard Woodland already gives you the important mechanical hardware, but the Premium adds a meaningful amount of comfort and technology for a modest price increase.
