NATIONWIDE (WGME) — Toyota is recalling almost 17,000 vehicles in two recalls to repair two separate problems.
They are recalling over 16,500 vehicles to fix problems that can cause issues with stability control.
The first recall affects 4,170 Toyota RAV4s, 90 Lexus RX350s and 12,400 Lexus ES350 models, all from the 2016 model year.
The automaker says a part inside the brake actuator, which controls the anti-lock brake system, traction control and stability control, was manufactured incorrectly. This can cause the actuator to work incorrectly, leading to the loss of stability control.
A Toyota technician will inspect the serial number on the actuator and replace it if it was produced during a specified time period.
In a second recall, Toyota is bringing back about 230 Sienna minivans from the 2016 model year to fix incorrect front seat belt height adjusters. In a severe crash, these height adjusters could separate, causing the seatbelt to not restrain properly.
Dealers will replace the height adjusters free of charge to the consumer.
Toyota owners who have questions can call 800-331-4331 and Lexus owners can call 800-255-3987.
