Nissan North America continues its long-standing partnership with Habitat for Humanity with a $1 million donation to help build affordable, homes in partnership with families in need of decent housing. Nissan’s contributions to Habitat for Humanity in North America amount to more than $15.5 million over the past 13 years.
“There is a growing need for affordable housing across the U.S.,” said Nissan Vice President of Corporate Development and Social Responsibility Rebecca Vest. “Nissan values its partnership with Habitat for Humanity because it helps build sustainable communities where our employees live and work. Our employees look forward to working alongside future homeowners, and their experiences affirm our corporate vision to enrich people’s lives.”
The majority of Nissan’s 2018 donation will go toward the building costs of Habitat homes in locations where Nissan has an operational presence, for vehicle purchases for use by local Habitat organizations and sponsorship of the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project.
“Nissan’s 13-year commitment to Habitat has played an important role in helping families achieve affordable homeownership,” said Colleen Finn Ridenhour, the senior vice president of development at Habitat for Humanity. “We are grateful for Nissan’s continuous generous support and the many volunteers who have built alongside future homeowners.”

Nissan donated 50 trucks and mobilized employees to assist in home building. Since 2006, Nissan has donated an additional 96 vehicles and Nissan’s employees have logged nearly 100,000 volunteer hours with Habitat for Humanity, building 86 homes across the United States.
About Habitat for Humanity
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
