2014 Ford Edge on Everyman Driver with Dave Erickson

The Edge is a midsize crossover that seats five and is offered in four trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited and Sport.  It’s also available in front-wheel and all-wheel drive.  Very little has changed over the last three years and the same holds true in 2014.  Your only new options are paint colors; Sunset Metallic, Oxford White and Ingot Silver.

The engine choices under the hood include a 2-liter, turbocharged EcoBoost that’s rated at 240-hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated to a six-speed automatic and is only available in front-drive. The standard engine, which is also mated to a six-speed auto, is the 285-hp 3.5-liter V-6.  That engine is offered in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.  The most power possible, test out the Edge Sport. That model is powered by a 3.7-liter V-6 (with a six-speed auto) that produces 305-hp and 280 lb-ft. of torque.

The estimated fuel economy rating of the Edge is 18 miles per gallon in the city and 25 miles per gallon on the highway.  It weighs approximately 4,200 pounds and has a towing capacity rating of 2,000 pounds. The fuel tank is 19.2 gallons and the recommended fuel type is regular.
