2020 Subaru Ascent vs 2020 Chevy Traverse on Everyman Driver

The Chevrolet Traverse offers rear passengers about the same room to stretch out as the Subaru Ascent, with comparable head- and legroom. The Subaru Ascent offers just a little more front head- and legroom than the Chevrolet Traverse, offering the driver and front passenger a bit more room and comfort.

Convenience
You’ll be making about the same number of stops at the gas station with the Chevrolet Traverse as you will with the Subaru Ascent, as they are both able to travel similar distances on a tank of gas.

Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). The Chevrolet Traverse is somewhat more expensive than the Subaru Ascent. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it’s built. The Destination Charge for the Chevrolet Traverse is much higher than that for the Subaru Ascent.

Dimensions
Since the Chevrolet Traverse is much wider than the Subaru Ascent, finding a wide enough spot in a parking lot may be a bit more challenging. For some people, bigger is better. If that’s the case for you, then you’ll be happier with the Chevrolet Traverse, which is slightly longer than the Subaru Ascent.

Drivetrain
With its lower torque engine, the Chevrolet Traverse doesn’t do as good a job transmitting power to its wheels as the Subaru Ascent.

Handling
The Chevrolet Traverse has a larger turning radius than the Subaru Ascent, making it slightly more difficult to maneuver in and out of tight spots.

Performance
In terms of towing capacity, the Subaru Ascent is clearly the choice over the Chevrolet Traverse for pulling heavy loads. The Chevrolet Traverse has a little more horsepower than the Subaru Ascent.

Utility
In terms of seating, you’ll be able to fit about the same number of people in both the Chevrolet Traverse and the Subaru Ascent. The Chevrolet Traverse has a roomier cargo area for putting your bags or other items than the Subaru Ascent.

Warranty
The Chevrolet Traverse comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the Subaru Ascent.
